One of Gaultier's signature motifs is the trompe-l'oeil print, which is a pattern that mimics a real texture or object. Gaultier has used this technique creatively to give an illusionary dimension to his clothes, such as jumpers that appear to have oversized shoulders, jackets that appear to have sleeves attached at the back, or dresses that appear to be made of torn fabric. The trompe l'oeil print has become an iconic feature of the JPG brand and has been used in many collections over the years.
This denim jacket from 1997 is a perfect representation of the JPG spirit and has beautiful details. It can be fastened at the front with a zip or with engraved metal buttons.
